For this very reason, all internet business transactions require a leap of faith from the buyer. Your job is to make that leap just a little bit easier for your customers or potential customers, and then to provide excellent customer service once the transaction has taken place.

Here are some tips to help you provide great customer service:

  • Make it easy to contact you! This has got to be one of the most utterly frustrating things about doing business online. So many companies make it almost impossible to get in touch when you have a problem or question. You should understand that according to internet retail studies, anger and frustration centered around this critical area is one of the biggest reasons businesses lose customers, both online and off. Display your contact info prominently and don’t make people jump through umpteen hoops of fire to contact you when they need to.

  • Make your return policy liberal and the return process easy. Again, don’t make people go through a whole staircase of steps to be able to send something back for whatever reason. Keep it streamlined and simple, user friendly to the max. Most consumers have far less hesitation about buying online if they know they can easily return the product for a refund or exchange if it doesn’t work for them.

  • Say “Thank You” with a special free shipping code for repeat purchases, X percentage or amount of dollars off a future purchase, or something along those lines. Always remember that there are scads of other internet dropship merchants these people could be buying from instead of you, so be polite and show them you appreciate their business with a courteous word of thanks.
