Home brewing dropship products: a fantastic ecommerce niche for a home business.

Anyone interested in starting a home business in ecommerce might do well to take a look at home brewing dropship products and the widespread demand for them.

People have been brewing their own libations for more than 12,000 years---wine, beer, whiskey and more.

Home brewing is still very popular and a red hot market for an enterprising ecommerce entrepreneur who wants a hungry niche with a large global target market of prospective buyers.

What is Home Brewing?

In case you’re completely in the dark about what is meant by “home brewing,” here is a short description from Wikipedia that may make the subject a bit more clear to you:

“Homebrewing is the brewing of beer, wine, sake , mead, cider, perry and other beverages through fermentation on a small scale as a hobby for personal consumption, free distribution at social gatherings, amateur brewing competitions or other non-commercial reasons. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages can be made at home.
Brewing on a domestic level has been done for thousands of years, but has been subject to regulation and prohibition during some time periods in certain places.

Restrictions on homebrewing were lifted in the UK in 1963, Australia followed suit in 1972, and the USA in 1978, though individual states were allowed to pass their own laws limiting production.

The legality of homebrewing varies from country to country, and some countries limit the volume an individual can legally brew. Fewer countries allow distillation of  alcohol in the home.”

Although home brewing was illegal in some states for many years, on October 14, 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed H.R. 1337, which contained an amendment sponsored by Senator Alan Cranston that created an exemption from taxation for beer brewed at home for personal or family use. This exemption went into effect February 1, 1979.

This was great news for home brewers!

Many people find this a fun and rewarding hobby, as they can drink the fruits of their labors.

Here are some interesting stats according to the Homebrewers Association:

2011 Homebrewing Stats

  • There are an estimated 1,000,000 homebrewers in the United States.
