Blu-Ray DVD Dropshippers Have a Lucrative Ecommerce Niche

Blu-Ray DVD dropshippingAnyone who is looking around for a profitable dropshipping niche for an ecommerce home business might do well to consider Blu-Ray DVD sales.

This is a booming niche with a huge target market and plenty of consumer demand. A bonus, if you need one, is that this niche is steady and dependable for dropshipping through out the year. That being said, you could reasonably expect to pick up more sales during the winter holidays when shoppers flock to the internet in droves to do their Christmas shopping.

In case you are not all that familiar with Blu-Ray DVDs, we will turn to our trusty old friend Wikipedia---the internet’s free online encyclopedia---to furnish us with a great definition:

“Blu-ray Disc (BD) is an optical disk storage medium designed to supersede the DVD format. The plastic disc is 120 mm in diameter and 1.2 mm thick, the same size as DVDs and CDs. Conventional (pre-BD-XL) Blu-ray Discs contain 25 GB per layer, with dual layer discs (50 GB) being the industry standard for feature-length video discs.

Triple layer discs (100 GB) and quadruple layers (128 GB) are available for BD-XL re-writer drives. The name Blu-ray Disc refers to the blue laser used to read the disc, which allows information to be stored at a greater density than is possible with the longer-wavelength red laser used for DVDs. The major application of Blu-ray Discs is as a medium for video material such as feature films. Besides the hardware specifications, Blu-ray Disc is associated with a set of multimedia formats. Generally, these formats allow for the video and audio to be stored with greater definition than on DVD.”

Got it?

More and more people are buying Blu-Ray players rather than standard DVD players. These people, of course, will want Blu-Ray disks. This is where you come in. Blu-Ray DVD drop shippers have a very rich and hungry niche, which simply means a niche with products that are in great demand, and are in no danger of their niche becoming yesterday’s news any time in the foreseeable future. Someday something will come out to supersede the Blu-Ray DVD the same way Blu-Rays came out to supersede plain DVDs. But, it seems highly doubtful that this eventuality is anything you would need to worry about any time soon.

If you want to see some stats that show the market for Blu-Ray DVD dropshipping, check these out:

According to a new report released by the The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG), Blu-ray sales increased 28.5% for Q1 2013 (over the same period last year). Sales of new release titles on Blu-ray were up 37% in Q1 from a year earlier. Similarly, sales of catalog titles on the HD format experienced robust gains with a 16% gain from the first quarter of 2012. Overall total spending on home video entertainment was up 5%.

Strong consumer demand for Blu-ray movies and an appealing slate of new release titles including: Skyfall, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, and Argo helped the format achieve impressive growth for the first three months of 2013.

According to DEG data, the number of Blu-ray homes continued to rise as well, with 3.2 million Blu-ray Disc players (including BD set-tops, PS3s and HTiBs,) sold in the first quarter. The total number of US homes with at least one Blu-ray compatible device is now estimated to be 60 million. The DEG also indicates that 9.4 million new HDTVs were sold to U.S. consumers in Q1.

It seems pretty clear that anyone interested in starting a home business in ecommerce could do a lot worse for a niche than Blu-Ray DVD dropshipping!
