SEO Tips For eCommerce Drop Ship Success

For drop ship eCommerce success in your internet business, you should know and understand the importance of SEO, or Search Engine Optimization.

SEO, as defined by Wikipedia, is “the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via natural ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results.”

Now, as an internet entrepreneur, you can relate to that.

You want more traffic and as much high quality traffic as you can get, to improve your conversion rate.

So, what are some simple but effective things that you can do to make your website more search engine friendly?

First of all, if you already have an online drop ship business, you’re way ahead of the game because this means you have content---and if there’s one thing search engines love, it’s content.

The more content the better!

Put all of your products online. One product per page, if possible.

Make your product descriptions keyword rich, but don’t stuff them.

Search engines almost never recognize web pages that require a login. So don’t have a page with a login until it is absolutely necessary, and limit logins to only one page on your website.

Be sure to use your keywords in product names. Don’t name your drop ship products some cutesy thing that a search engine won’t pick up. In other words, if your product is wire frame sunglasses, then name your product something that incorporates “sunglasses” at least, instead of “Groovy Granny Glasses”. If you want to call them groovy granny glasses somewhere in the description, fine. But not in the product title.

Use a Sitemap. No, not for your website, for the search engines. Sitemaps are an easy way for you to tell search engines which of your web pages are available for crawling. Web crawlers generally discover pages from links within your site. A sitemap will augment this data to allow crawlers to pick up all the URLs in the sitemap. Basically, sitemaps simply provide web crawlers to do a better job of crawling your site. It sounds sort of creepy, but it’s a good thing.

Provide multiple paths to finding products on your drop shipping website. This helps both customers and search engines. For instance, allow shoppers to choose either the product type or the manufacturer. Providing multiple paths creates more keyword rich links!

Use cross links! Search engines LOVE links, especially keyword rich links. Use your product names for links and link from one product to another. Besides helping your SEO, cross links will help with up selling and cross selling, which means more sales and profit!

Keep it simple. Avoid splashy and flashy---keep navigation simple. Let shoppers click items on a list instead of drop down menus, expanding menus, etc.

To summarize, you can give your ecommerce drop ship or other internet business a shot in the arm by maximizing SEO techniques!

Just remember that content is the king of Search Engine Optimization, and make sure you keep your website rich in content!
