Optimizing Your Internet Drop Shipping Business Website

What do you really want your internet drop shipping business website to do for you?

In all probability, the main thing you want your website to do is function as efficiently as possible, to help you make sales and grow your drop ship business.

So, browse through your web pages and take a good look at your web forms.

The web forms that an ecommerce business uses on its website can make a huge difference in conversion rates and making or losing sales!

Chances are, your web forms can stand to be improved a little, or a lot.

Here are some handy tips to help you optimize your web forms:

Get Rid of the “Cancel” Button:
If you have a “cancel” button on your checkout page, for heaven’s sake---get rid of it ASAP! You have managed to get a visitor all the way to checkout, why in the world would you practically ask them to change their mind? This is the last thing you want! A surprising number of websites do this and there is no telling how it is affecting their conversion rate. Don’t even make “cancel” an option at checkout.

Don’t Ask Unnecessary Questions:
If you need to qualify age, that’s understandable. But do you really need to know a buyer’s exact birth date? In most cases, the answer to that question is No, you don’t. By the same token, how important is it for you to know a customer’s gender? If you want to do some sort of tracking over a period of time, keeping up with age and gender of your customers, send it to them in the form of an online survey and offer an incentive for filling it out. But, try to keep unnecessary questions on the checkout page to a bare minimum. Anything that slows down the checkout process is your sworn enemy because that leads to shopping cart abandonment.

Specific Error Messages:
This is another surprisingly common and extremely annoying mistake that many ecommerce businesses are guilty of! When giving a buyer at checkout an error message on a form they must fill out, be specific and plainly tell the buyer exactly which part they flubbed and must correct. Don’t just give this generic “All fields must be filled out” message so that they buyer has to search and try to figure out which field is wrong or not filled out or whatever.

Don’t Require Complicated Passwords:

Yet another very irritating mistake made by some internet businesses. Even if it does slightly improve security, please don’t force your buyers to come up with a complicated, almost impossible to remember password! The ones like this “Password must contain no fewer than 8 characters, one capital letter and only one numeral.” Just let them choose their own password and be glad you’re getting a registered customer. Ditto for the security question/s if they forget their password. Some websites ask ridiculous security questions like “What is your favorite movie?” and “Who is your favorite author?” Good grief! These are things that are subject to change from one month to the next! How can you expect customers to recall, maybe a year from whenever they registered on your site, what their favorite movie might have been at that moment in time? This and overly complicated passwords undoubtedly cost businesses a lot of customers, because many or most will get frustrated and leave when these things are too difficult.

Improving your web forms can make a significant difference to your conversion rate! Boost your drop ship sales by making sure your web forms are as simple and user friendly as you can make them!
