Well, maybe not absolutely everything you ever wanted to know about dropshipping.
But we’ll try to at least cover the important stuff.
First of all:
What is Dropshipping?
Basically, dropshipping is selling something you don’t have.
If you are in business, usually online, reselling wholesale products that you order from a product supplier who houses the actual physical inventory---you are involved in the process known as “dropshipping” or “drop ship”.
You don’t ever have in your possession any of the products you are selling in your online business. You simply go to the website of the product supplier, who is knows as the “dropshipper”, choose which products you want to sell on your own website; and sell them.
Or take orders for them, if you will.
As the products are sold, you notify the dropshipper supplier.
At that point, the dropshipper supplier will package and ship the item/s to your customer/s.
You do not, at any point, handle the real, live merchandise.
Now, you might be wondering how you make money by simply selling somebody else’s merchandise?
If you have chosen a dropshipper supplier wisely, you will make money because the price you will pay the supplier is less than what you have resold the item for on your website.
You are, in effect, the middleman.
After choosing which items of the supplier’s you want to place for sale on your dropshipping business website, you mark the price for each product accordingly, as you see fit.
The whole idea here is to sell high and buy low.
However, if you have made a poor choice in your dropshipper supplier, you will be selling high and buying high, too.
In this event, you will not make any profit and are nothing more than a glorified salesperson for the wholesale dropshipper.
As you can probably imagine, this would be a real bummer.
All your hard work, advertising money spent, etc. and for what? Just to make a tidy profit for the supplier.
Ouch!
So, it would behoove you to shop around and make sure you choose a wholesale supplier very carefully.
Provided that you have done your homework and hooked up with a reputable wholesale product supplier, or dropshipper, you can make a 6 figure income in dropshipping.
This is a business where you more or less write your own paycheck.
Many a netreprenuer wanna-be has met his or her Waterloo by underestimating how much work they will have to invest in an online business.
Some go into it naively thinking that one you set up your online store and stock it with virtual merchandise, the customer come stampeding in, fighting each other to buy stuff.
This is so not true.
