Strategy for Social Media Marketing for Your Dropshipping Website

If you aren’t taking advantage of social media marketing, you’re missing out on a golden opportunity!

According to a recent report by the Center for Media Research, having a “presence” on social networks is one of the highest priorities for media plans in 2010.

So, whether you should or should not be using social media marketing isn’t the question, is it?

The question is this: What is your social media marketing strategy?

Jumping in the deep end on Facebook or Twitter with no idea whatsoever exactly what it is you hope to accomplish is just not smart. In order to be successful with social media marketing, you must have a plan….a clear idea of what you want it to do for your dropshipping business.

If you rush in without rhyme or reason, you’ll only end up looking ridiculous and pathetic.

For example, what could be sadder than a business on Twitter with only a dozen or so followers? Really, who would think that this was a business they wanted to know more about or buy from?

Ditto for Facebook.

Plan your social media strategy beforehand to make sure that you get the most benefit from it!

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What do you want social media marketing to do for you? Do you want to build brand recognition? Increase your drop ship sales? Increase traffic? Improve engagement and interaction with consumers?

  • What will you do to encourage participation? How are you planning to drive visitors to your social media presence?

  • Who is going to handle and maintain your activities on the social media? Do you have time to do it yourself? Will you have to hire someone else to take care of this?

  • Which kind of social media will best help you achieve your unique marketing goals? Twitter? YouTube? Facebook?

  • How are you going to measure success or failure of your social media marketing? Will you be measuring and tracking views, comments, followers, friends, sales, or what? You must have some sort of basic guideline to measure the success of your social media marketing campaign!

Do jump on the social media bandwagon to help build your ecommerce dropshipping business, but don’t do it without some solid strategy!
