Sending more specially personalized emails can put your ecommerce store on the fast track to success!

Based on studies done by internet research marketing teams, consumers respond much better to emails from merchants when they have been allowed to select the content of the emails.

If you stop and think about it, this makes perfect sense.

All of us are more likely to open an email about something that interests us. In email marketing, the higher you can boost your email open rate, the better off you’ll be and the more your sales will increase. 

So, you should definitely allow users to personalize the content of the emails to receive from you when they opt-in to your subscription list.

True, this will create a bit more work for you or whoever writes your emails, but it will be more than worth it in the long run!

For example, if you are selling books in your online bookstore, you might allow users to choose which genre/s they are most interested in receiving emails about, or something along that line.

A mystery buff is usually not remotely interested in receiving email news of romantic novels, for instance. And vice versa: Devoted romance readers probably wouldn’t bother to open an email from you touting the newest espionage thriller.

So, by targeting your email marketing and letting your subscribers have a choice in the content of the emails they will get from you; there will be a substantial increase in the open rate which will parley itself into an increase in sales.

Netflix uses personalization in a way that you might want to emulate. 

If you are a Netflix customer, you will receive recommendations of movies based on other movies you have watched and rated. If you consistently choose war movies, then Netflix will recommend similar war movies. Ditto for any other genre of movie you have chosen.

You might adapt this personalization to your email newsletters to those on your subscription list, by recommending products for them based on past purchases.

eBay has also started doing more or less the same thing. When you login to your eBay account, you will see a whole gallery of products that are recommended for you based on previous purchases.

This is actually one of the few good ideas to roll off the Bay in quite some time.

Try using these techniques to personalize your emails and watch your sales soar to new heights!

Good post! The more customization you allow for, the better the experience for the user. Nothing turns a subscriber off faster than getting information which is not immediately relevant to them.
