Are you doing a good job of marketing your internet business?
Some people think that an internet website is like the baseball field in Field of Dreams: If you build it, they will come.
Not so.
Just setting up an online store and then sitting back to wait for the hordes of happy shoppers to come stampeding through your virtual doors, credit cards in hand, is a short and direct route to the poor house.
To make your internet business a success, you have to market it!
Here are some simple steps toward great internet marketing for your online business:
1. Decide what you want to accomplish with your marketing strategies. Be specific! Do you want to increase traffic by 1000 visitors a week or month? Do you want to boost sales by $1000 a week or month? Do you just want to build your brand? Determine your goals, and then work toward them.
2. Develop a good email opt-in list and strive to continually add subscribers. Make people a valuable offer such as an informative free whitepaper or ebook for opting in to your email list.
3. Run promotions, sales, contests…whatever gets attention and gets good traffic to your online business. Make sure that your web pages reflect these promos and that the contests and sale items are easy to find.
4. Maximize SEO! This is one of the most important things you can do to effectively market your internet business. Remember, if you don’t exist on Google---you don’t exist.
5. Create a blog and maintain it faithfully with fresh, relevant content. Don’t forget to use good SEO tactics in your blog! Use other social media for marketing, too, such as Twitter and Facebook.
6. Make a video for YouTube or have one made. A good, useful how-to video about something that correlates with your business is the best way to go. Don’t be afraid to inject a bit of lighthearted humor. The video can be informative and educational, but entertaining as well.
7. Use PPC, and/or banner and display ads. If you drill down a bit for keywords that better describe your business or products instead of the more generic, broader terms; you can often buy PPC ads at a lower price and get more qualified traffic from them to boot.
If you want traffic to your online business, you must practice good internet marketing tactics!
