eBay DropShip Sellers: Can You Afford the New Reduced Fees?

Once again, eBay is shafting sellers and making it sound like they’re finally getting a break.
The new and supposedly “reduced” fees, plus the changes in Fixed Price and Store Items, are going to raise the already exorbitant cost of selling on eBay to new and horrendous levels.
Regardless of what sort of spin eBay chooses to put on this newest change; it is clearly going to cost the average seller considerably more money.
In a move that is reminiscent of the Wicked Stepmother presenting Snow White with a poisoned apple as though it was a gourmet treat, eBay is proffering up the latest change that is going to gouge even more fees from sellers who already have their backs against the wall, as though it’s a good thing.
Well…..it
is a good thing.
For eBay.
For those who haven’t gotten the news on the soon-to-be-implemented “reduced” fees, here is how it works for eBay stores:
- eBay Stores are changing, and not for the better. Basically, there won’t be any difference between an eBay store item and a Fixed Price item except that while store items have been $.03 for 30 days, now each item is $.20 for 30 days.
- Starting the 30th of this month, eBay will offer one fixed price format with full search exposure.
- Your existing eBay store item listings will automatically become standard Fixed Price listings with their original duration at the new fees included with your Stores subscription package, plus the fees for any feature upgrades.
- Final Value Fees are going way, way up for items that sell for over $50.
If you are a small seller who mostly lists items that sell for $50 or under, you won’t be hit too awfully hard, unless you have an eBay store. In that case, you should probably start weeding out and trying to dump a lot of inventory between now and the end of this month.
There is a HUGE difference between paying $0.03 a month per item and $0.20 a month per item.
For example, if you have a Basic eBay Store Subscription and an inventory of 100 items, you are now paying $15.95 every month for the store subscription, plus $3.00 for your inventory of 100 items.
Under the new REDUCED rates, you will be paying $15.95 each month for your store subscription, plus $20.00 for your inventory items.
Now, it doesn’t take an Albert Einstein to do the math on this one, folks.
Before: Basic eBay Store Subscription with 100 item inventory, total cost of $18.95 per month.
After: Basic eBay Store Subscription with 100 item inventory, total cost of $35.95 per month.
Hmmmmm…..let’s see if we can cipher this out like a first grade math problem:
$18.95 or $35.95? Which is more?
Yes! You are smarter than a First Grader! Obviously eBay didn’t think you would be when they announced the new and reduced fees.
Many sellers---cut to the bone already with having to provide insurance for packages themselves, increased fees and reduced exposure in Worst Match---will simply not be able to afford this latest "break" from eBay. Click here to get a free
