Repeat Customers: Are You a One Trick Pony?

Are you getting the number of repeat visitors or customers that you should be, or are you a one trick pony---like a band that has one big hit and then fades into oblivion, never to be heard from again?
While it is vitally important to continually drive fresh traffic to your ecommerce website, it is equally important to do everything you possibly can to get those people to come back!
The first thing you must do is determine what will bring your visitors and customers back to your website.
Don’t automatically assume that low price is the most important thing to customers. While price is important, it usually isn’t the be-all and end-all when it comes to making people want to come back and buy from you again.
Internet research has shown that online consumers will actually pay more for an identical product offered on a competitor’s website at a cheaper price, if they like the website with the higher price better than the website with the lower price.
Always remember one of the prime rules of sales: People buy from those they like.
This is just as true online in the virtual world as offline in a traditional setting.
So, in order to get shoppers to come back again, you must make sure that they like your website and the entire process of doing business and buying from you!
How can you do that?
You can have a fast loading, well laid out and organized, user friendly online store that eliminates the need for the customer to think because you are doing it for him or her.
You can have well written product descriptions that provide all of the information a shopper needs to make a buying decision.
You can have plenty of good photos of your items, too.
You can have a quick, efficient and painless checkout that doesn’t make the customer jump through hoops if fire to try and pay for the items in their shopping cart.
You can have trust and security symbols prominently displayed, and your business contact info, as well.
You can have a blog and/or a User Forum where a customer or potential customer can go and ask a question or just read what other customers have to say, get ideas about how best to use your products, and so on.
You can have an “About” page that humanizes you and your online business.
There are other things you can do, too; but if you just stick to the things mentioned here---you won’t be a one trick pony who never gets a repeat customer!
