The Importance of Being Mobile: Tools for Dropship Road Warriors

Many ecommerce entrepreneurs with a dropship business spend quite a bit of time traveling, and with vacation time upon us, even those homepreneurs who are normally to be found in their home offices will be hitting the road and will probably need a way to do business while mobile.

No matter what ecommerce niche you are active in, chances are that you will have need of using a mobile device to access certain files, information, email, documents or whatever from time to time.

You might have a SmartPhone or one of the new iPads, or work from a desktop at home but use your laptop when on the move. Whatever mobile device you’re using, it seems that at some point we all need remote or cloud based solutions for access to stuff stored on other devices.

Stay on top of your competition! Download this free e-book now to get valuable information about marketing techniques!

Here are a few handy tools for mobile ecommerce entrepreneurs:

GoToMyPC:  Allows you to remotely access your computer from any other internet-connected computer in the world with almost any operating system through a secure, private connection. You simply click Connect, and your computer desktop will appear in front of you! It isn’t free, but the monthly fee is nominal ($19.99) and there is a 30 day free trial so that you can try it out and see if you like it.

LogMeIn Simply Connected: Access your remote desktop, files, applications and network resources over the web. Access your desktop from your iPhone and iPad from wherever you are. Free remote control of your PC or Mac from the convenience of a web browser. This one also has a free trial to determine if it’s right for you.

Google Docs: With this you can use the internet for storage, which is a good solution to let you work across platforms (PC or MAC) just through storing the documents on Google Docs, and then allowing collaboration or download to different devices as needed. This one, like almost all of Google’s wonderful tools, is FREE.

Dropbox: There is a free version that will be sufficient to the needs of most home business owners. With this one, when you open a Dropbox account, a file is downloaded onto as many computers as you are using. You can then drag and drop files to that folder, and all of the folders on all of your computers are synchronized automatically. For MAC users, another program called Growler actually notifies you when files are added to your folder. A free Dropbox account will allow you to store 2 Gigabytes of files.

You may want to use one of these tools on a full-time basis for your online dropshipping business, or only while you are away on vacation this summer. Either way, you will be glad of the convenience of accessing information from your home computer while you are way from home!
