Almost all ecommerce entrepreneurs and those with a dropship sales business are aware by now of the importance of social media marketing, and a great social media strategy is a must-have in order to make your marketing efforts bear fruit!
Here are some simple steps to a successful social media strategy:
1. Have a clear message. Before you even start with social media marketing, sit down and decide exactly what message you want to send to viewers. This is, in essence, your sales pitch. Your message should be brief, but explanatory and compelling. For example, if you are selling workout videos, you might say something like this: “XYZ workout videos will give you a leaner, fitter body in 30 days or less!” You get the idea. The main objective is to let people know immediately what you are all about as well as what the benefit of your product or business is for them. It helps to keep this under 120 characters, also, for Twitter.
2. Have a clear idea of what you are hoping to accomplish with social media marketing. Is it increased sales? Or to build brand recognition? Spread good PR for your business? Improve customer service and relations? Whatever your goal may be for your marketing efforts, define it before you begin. If you don’t know where you want to go, how will you know when you get there?
3. Know where and how your targeted audience interacts with social media. This is important! For example, if you are selling such products as motorized wheelchairs, walkers and lift chairs, chances are that your targeted audience is mostly made up of seniors. So, spending a lot of time on a social site that is comprised of a younger age demographic would be a waste of time and effort.
4. In order to conduct social media marketing effectively, it is critical that you decide which segment of the market you are targeting, because this will affect your entire approach. For example, are you going to focus on established customers? Or viewers who have probably never heard of you? There is a huge difference between those two groups, and your marketing efforts should reflect which group you wish to target.
5. Decide how you will measure your ROI, or Return On Investment, before you begin. Knowing which metrics you intend to track will greatly simplify the process, and allow you to quickly gain an understanding of how well, or how poorly, your social media marketing campaigns are performing for you.
