In other words, make the most of the moment while your customer is in a buying mood.
It does make a difference.
There is a psychological edge to cross selling or up selling that sales people within every industry have known and used to their best advantage for hundreds of years.
Back in the mists of time, some Roman toga maker might have offered sandals when a gladiator came in for new clothes.
The fact is that when people are in a buying mood, or mode, they are much more receptive to buying more than one thing. This is a golden opportunity for you in dropshipping sales.
Here are some tips on using cross selling effectively:
- Choose some smaller accessories to go along with your bigger ticket items that you can throw in as a “bundle.” For example, if you are selling a large 3 room tent, you might offer air mattresses, sleeping bags, lanterns, etc. to go along with the tent.
- Choose products for cross selling that you can use as loss leaders or hooks to attract visitors to your website or eBay listings. For instance, if you are selling memory foam mattresses, you might offer a memory foam pillow or mattress cover really cheap in order to draw traffic.
- Show photos of the bundled products together. For example, if you are selling baby strollers, you might offer accessories such as snack trays and rain covers to go along with the strollers. By showing a picture of a stroller with these accessories, you are providing an image in the buyer’s mind of already having these optional items with the stroller, which makes it much easier to sell these things to them at the time of purchase.
Just a few simple cross selling techniques can work wonders to beef up your dropshipping sales and profits!
