Making Money With Dropship Sales on eBay: What NOT to Do

 

There are many entrepreneurs making money with eBay dropship sales, but there are some pitfalls you must avoid in order to succeed.

eBay is a different environment for selling than most other internet marketplaces.

In a nutshell, there isn’t a whole lot of room for mistakes on eBay. Either your mistakes or those that your customers might make that cause them to leave low Detailed Seller Ratings and bad feedback for you.

A smallish seller on eBay, dropship sales or otherwise, can only have approximately 2-3 customers in a years time that leave them unfair ratings and/or feedback and then---wham!---they’re suspended!

You can see why there isn’t much margin for error here or any wiggle room at all.

What this boils down to is that there is no learning period on eBay. New sellers are held to the same standards as more seasoned sellers.

So, it is crucial to your success as a dropship seller on eBay that you take the time to acquaint yourself with all of the many policies, rules, perils and pitfalls that you will have to deal with if you are going to survive there.

Here are some things you should NOT do if you want to succeed on eBay:

  • Fail to learn and understand the rules and policies. If you don’t know what not to do, you might do it and inadvertently cause problems for yourself. For instance, one policy is that you are not allowed to use the full name of a celebrity in your title line unless that name is the name of the product. So, if you were selling a dress that looks like one Sarah Jessica Parker might have worn in Sex and the City, you cannot use her name in the title. If, on the other hand, you are selling one of the Sarah Jessica Parker Perfumes---it’s okay. You must know the rules to avoid breaking them!

 

  • Fail to give a realistic time frame for delivery of the item. Most buyers will be fine with an approximate delivery date as long as you’re honest and upfront about it. If you try to fudge on that and tell them to expect it sooner…..you will have unnecessarily created unhappy customers that will probably leave bad ratings and feedback for you.

 

  • Fail to give accurate descriptions and photos. This is another thing that will come back to bite you in the bottom! Tell the truth about whatever you are selling. Provide great descriptions and photos so that buyers know what to expect when it arrives.


These are only a few of the big No-Nos for dropship eBay sellers, but paying attention to them will be beneficial to you!
