At a news conference at its San Francisco headquarters, Twitter executives said that the redesign, which will be rolling out to its 160 million users over the upcoming weeks, will make the site not only easier but faster to use as well.

Additionally, the makeover is intended to offer up more relevant content to its users.

The popularity of this social site has led to problems. Since its inception in 2006, Twitter has grown by leaps and bounds, adding an estimated 370,000 new users each and every day.

Unfortunately, its popularity and rapid growth has caused glitches such as too frequent crashes.

Twitter has also floundered for more ways to boost its revenues and has recently added new advertising formats and hired more sales staff. Execs are hoping that the makeover with easier to see ads will help it compete for advertisers with such giants as Google and Facebook.

The new version of the site will furnish users with more information about the authors of Tweet---the 140 character messages used in Twitter.

Another new feature is that conversations between its users can be viewed. Ditto for the videos and photos which are referenced in Twitter updates.

Another great change in the redesign is that instead of only being able to view a single timeline of events and having to scroll back and forth the see updates, there will be two frames instead of the original one.

Deals have been made with 16 video and photo sites, which include the ever popular YouTube and Flickr, to imbed their visual content on Twitter, according to Twitter execs.
