It may seem like a long time to you right now, but the fact is that the holidays will be here before you know it!

In fact, a lot of consumers are already actively shopping for holiday gifts, so if you don’t have your dropship business geared up for them….you need to get busy!

What do you need to do in order to be holiday ready?

Actually, there are several very important steps you need to take:

  • Don’t focus on the Christmas holiday and forget Black Friday! Black Friday, followed by Cyber Monday, is one of the biggest shopping days of the year both online and off. Shoppers will literally stand in line all night before a store opens to grab those bargains, and will virtually do the same thing online. So you need at least one GREAT deal for this mammoth shopping spree!

  • Consider having a loss leader. The holidays are an ideal time to have a loss leader or two in your online dropship store. Choose an item that you can market at an extremely low cost and use it to draw traffic to your other, bigger ticket items. You don’t want to lose money if you can avoid it. But even if you lose a buck or so on the loss leader and make umpteen extra big ticket sales from the traffic it generated….it’s worth it. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money!

  • Get those coupons, promotions, contests, email newsletters, PPC and display ads, dropship blog articles, social media strategies and every other resource available to you in tune with the coming holiday season. This is no time to hide your light under a bushel. Get your “deals and steals” together and then say it loud and say it proud! Let people know what you have!

  • Do a website tune-up if you have your own site. If you market the right way, there will be a lot of extra heavy traffic through your site and this is no time to have glitches and errors that cause customers to hit the back button and leave! Fine tune, test, have someone go through a mock checkout process….have everything on your site running like a well oiled machine for those holiday shoppers with money to spend!

  • Get in the holiday spirit! It will soon be time to give your website a holiday theme. This goes for every marketing platform, as well. Be sure to change your keywords to incorporate something that lets shoppers know your product is suitable as a holiday gift. Use the Google Keyword Tool to see what the most used keywords are when consumers are searching for holiday gifts. “Christmas” is sure to be one and there will be others, too.
