Google Shopping & Google Dropshipping: Are You in or Out?
Google shopping will change the way your Google dropshipping
business works in many ways, especially as so far as it affects your pocketbook.
Google is no longer just a search engine. Broadening its scope considerably, it is now venturing into being an online marketplace and shopping mecca. Honestly, looking at the way Google rose to dominate the search engines, perhaps we shouldn’t doubt its ability to rise to the top as an online shopping mall, either.
So, what does this mean as far as Google dropshipping basics?
In order to answer that question, let’s look at what Google Shopping actually is and how it will work. This is still new, so many people aren’t up to speed about what’s going down with Google Shopping and what it’s all about.
What is Google Shopping?
What is Google Shopping? How do you use it?
There probably aren’t too many people who get online that are unfamiliar with a Google search and how that works. Google Shopping goes beyond a search because it refines your search considerably, making it much faster and easier to find what you’re shopping for.
When you visit the Google home page, look to the top and you’ll see a tool bar. Google Shopping is one of the options on this tool bar.
On the left side of the Google Shopping page, you can choose to check boxes that allow you to narrow your search. For example, you could choose to see only products with free shipping, or products from the United States, and so on.
Below these boxes are more boxes that let you refine your search more by specifying what you are looking for---clothing, food, toys, video games, jewelry, etc.
You may also refine your search by choosing a specific price range and/or any shop or a particular shop.
After all of that, you have the option of narrowing your choices even more by using Advanced Search. Whew! It may sound like more choices and options than you’ll get at Starbucks, but taking just a minute or two to refine your search will produce more relevant results.
Ultimately, this means you can find what you are shopping for faster and easier. Google Shopping takes comparison shopping to a whole new level.
That’s how it works.
How Does Google Shopping Affect Merchants?
In a nutshell, if you have a dropshipping business, don’t expect to be high in Google’s search rankings anymore unless you pay to be there.
Yep. It’s true. There is an up side and a down side to this. The good news is that a lot of merchants will not be willing to pay and so this really opens up the playing field for those that will turn loose of the money to place high in Google search results.
The down side is that if you are one of the merchants willing to pay, you can place high in Google search but may have to pay a fairly high price for the privilege.
Some dropshipping businesses feel that it’s worth paying the price to be on top instead of relying on relevancy and algorithms that are chancy, to say the least.
If you are intrigued by the whole concept of Google Shopping but want to test the waters before diving in the deep end and spending big bucks, Google is offering penny ads that won’t give you high placement will at least get you in search results.
Google Shopping and Google dropshipping can work well together, so you might want to give it a try!
