5 Home Business Marketing Tips to Boost Dropship Sales

marketing dropship home business
Anyone with a home dropship business might be interested in a few tips for marketing to boost sales.

Sometimes new ecommerce entrepreneurs fail to realize that e-tail stores and businesses need marketing to help increase traffic and sales just the same as retail, brick and mortar stores.

This is a big mistake and could prove to be a fatal error!

If you have a home dropshipping business, you need to hone your marketing techniques and strategies; striving always to improve and maintain a competitive edge so that you don’t lose ground.

Here are 5 home business marketing tips to boost dropship sales:

  • Actively work at establishing yourself as an authority within your niche. You can do this by having well written, informative content that demonstrates your knowledge and understanding of your particular niche and products. You can also use social media platforms such as Twitter, face book and LinkedIn to post authoritative content. People tend to look up to businesses that show extensive knowledge about their own niche, and it helps to build trust, as well; which in turn helps to increase sales.

  • Use content to promote your dropship home business and build your brand. The days of “article farming” are over, thank goodness, so the last thing you want to do is plaster the internet with tons of poorly written content that offers little or no value to readers. Since the Penguin and Panda algorithm updates, this is a great way to get yourself blackballed with Google. But, you can use high quality content to your best advantage and it will help drive traffic to your website or listings; which translates to sales. Google loves fresh, relevant, high quality content. The more you provide, the higher your rankings in search results will be. Since research has shown that the average online shopper rarely goes past the first page of search results, you will help your dropship home business tremendously by being on that first page!

  • Beef up your opt-in email subscription list. If you don’t have one---do it now! Email marketing is not only extremely effective; it costs nothing if you make it a DIY effort. But even if you have to hire someone to write your marketing emails, you will gain more than enough in extra sales to offset the cost of a freelancer. To sweeten the pot and make visitors to your website willing to opt-in to your emails and newsletters, you might consider offering a decent incentive such as half price shipping or even free shipping if this is feasible. Obviously if you are dropshipping big heavy products, free shipping is not the incentive you will want to use.

  • Offer great coupons! According to Internet Retailer, a Morpace market research survey showed that:

  1. 67% of shoppers have used coupons they downloaded and printed from the web.
  2. In a survey of 1,000 shoppers in mid-February, Morpace found that women and consumers with annual household incomes of at least $50,000 were most likely to use web coupons.
  3. 71% percent of women and 59% of men use coupons from the Internet.
  4. 71% percent of consumers who make more than $50,000 a year use them, compared with 61% of shoppers who make less than $50,000.

The moral of this little story is that most people love and use coupons. So, tempt them into shopping with you by offering valuable coupons. You don’t have to give away the store and remember; sometimes you have to spend a little money to make money!

  • Develop a good understanding of your differentiators and what they mean to customers. Even if you are in a highly competitive niche, you should be able to find something that sets your dropship business apart from the others. Once you determine what your differentiators will be---build on them. Play it up! If you offer free return shipping, play it to the hilt. For example, if what differentiates your dropshipping home business from the others in the pack is superior customer service…let your customers know this. Bear in mind that your differentiator must be something that is actually beneficial to buyers. Otherwise it falls into that “so what?” factor and is useless.

These 5 home business marketing tips to boost dropship sales can help you keep your ecommerce income going up, up, UP!
