  • Research and choose your dropship niche very carefully. You need a niche with a big enough demand that you are ensured of having enough traffic and customers to net enough profits. Without a great niche, you cannot hope to achieve maximum ecommerce success.

  • Once you have chosen a dropship niche, start looking for a reputable wholesale product source. This can be tricky as some product suppliers advertise “free” services or wholesale prices. Be assured that there is no such animal as a free wholesale product source. If you find one that claims to be, it will make its profits on the products you buy for resale. You can take that to the bank and if you do business with one of these alleged free services, that will be the only thing you’ll be taking to the bank, because they’ll be making all the money---not you. Make sure the product supplier gives you genuine wholesale products.

  • After you have found a great wholesale dropship product supplier, select the products you want to sell, based on the niche you chose earlier. It may be that you only dropship one product, or you might decide to branch out and sell a variety of products within your chosen niche. There are advantages to both ways. If you only dropship one products, your SEO, marketing, product descriptions and everything else will be simpler. On the other hand, if you offer a variety of similar products within your niche, you are increasing chances to make more sales by such sales techniques as cross selling, up selling and bundling. Just be sure not to bite off more than you can chew and you should be fine either way.

  • Now, decide which venue you want for your dropshipping sales. Amazon, eBay, eBid or uBid, Bonanza and more---you will have plenty of marketplaces to choose from that will work for your home business sales. One thing to keep in mind is that the smaller sites don’t have fees as high as Amazon or eBay, but they don’t have as much traffic, either.
