Home Business Tips: The Do’s and Don’ts of a Dropshipping Business Blog

dropshipping blogThose with a home business in ecommerce might appreciate learning a few of the do’s and don’ts of a dropshipping blog and how to use it to drive traffic, build their brand and increase sales.

In fact, a blog can be immensely effective in all of these areas, provided it is done right.

Here are some tips to help you make your dropshipping business blog the best it can be.

  • Do post regularly. It’s not the end of the world to skip a day every now and then, but don’t make a habit of it. Consistency is very important, so try to stay on track and get your blog articles posted as often as you possibly can. If you can post more than one a day, so much the better.

  • Do keep it simple. Forget all the widgets and plugins and flash animations. Yes, they’re fun for you but you should be aware that they are NOT fun for readers. They don’t like them and find them annoying. So, use simple images and a simple format.

  • Do add buttons to share social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more. Well….provided you maintain a presence on these sites, that is. Which hopefully you do.

  • Do edit and proofread your blog posts to check for typos, misspelled words and other bloopers.

  • Do engage with your readers. After all, if someone is interested enough in your blog to post a comment or ask a question, this should be treated as a golden opportunity to connect with a potential customer.

  • Do share something of value with your blog readers. For example, if you have a dropshipping business that specializes in camping equipment, you could write blog posts about all things related to camping---even recipes!

  • Don’t use too much sales hype. This is a huge turn-off to the average reader who will more often than not hit the back button and leave.

  • Don’t be negative. Who wants to hear from a Debbie Downer or Gloomy Gus? Keep your blog posts upbeat and motivating. Make them fun when you can. Inject a note of humor along the way.

  • Don’t use long paragraphs. Most readers do not respond well to long, unbroken paragraphs made up of several sentences. Instead, go for short, punch paragraphs and lead into the next one so that your content flows.

  • Don’t post duplicate content. It is better to skip a day or even a couple of days rather than repost previously posted articles. Google takes a dim view of duplicate content and you might find yourself penalized and sliding waaaay down in search engine results pages.

  • Don’t set your pod casts or videos to automatically play when someone lands on a page. This is extremely annoying to almost everybody.

Use these tips for the do’s and don’ts of blogging to improve your home business dropshipping blog, and watch your sales take off!
